The holidays are here. MCC invites everyone to get in the Christmas spirit with a spin on a classic “A Christmas Carol Revisited: Scrooge’s Reclamation,” on Friday, December 5 at 7 p.m. in MCC’s Black Box Theatre. There will be a cheerful pre-show at 6:30 p.m.
Retired MCC instructors Ted Hazelgrove and Jim Gould present this noteworthy program that looks at Ebenezer Scrooge’s transformation through the lenses of literature, ethics, and personal growth. The longtime collaborators co-taught integrated courses blending philosophy, ethics, and literature and remain active in community education.
“While it’s a beloved Christmas story, A Christmas Carol also asks us to reflect on duty, generosity, and what it means to live a meaningful life,” Hazelgrove said.
“We’ll explore Scrooge’s journey from closed-hearted miser to open-hearted philanthropists using a mix of role play, film, and discussion,” Gould said.
The opening introduces the local chamber ensemble, the Evergreen Collective performing holiday music. Followed by the program 7–8 p.m. and a Q&A session with the presenters.
The event is free and open to the community. Registration is not required.
