Tennis captain earns honors

Congratulations to Andrew Burkey as our March Student-Athlete of the Month at MCC.

“We are proud of all Andrew has accomplished here at MCC
and the manner he represents our tennis program and department” said Karen Wiley, Director of Athletics. “We are happy to be a part of
his bright future,”

Burkey is in his sophomore year at MCC, coming from Huntley High
School. Andrews’s distinguished leadership skills have allowed him to be the team captain this season.

“Andrew has grown into a valuable leader for the men’s squad,” head coach Jim Stockwell said. “He helps run drills for his teammates and teaches techniques to help them improve. He is a huge advocate for our program, active in recruiting high school players from his alma mater for both our men’s and women’s tennis teams.”

Andrew is a great man on and off the court. He has earned ISCC All-Conference All-Acadmics honors and is on track to graduate as NJCAA Academic All-American.  He will then transfer to the University of Illinois in Champaign to study Journalism and Media.
