As spring baseball is quickly approaching in the next couple of months, there are three teams in particular that are on the prowl for a pennant in the year 2020. Those teams include the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Minnesota Twins.

Trades involving these three teams show how serious they are. One local avid baseball fan Sam Pederson said he thinks, “all these teams have an excellent chance of winning the pennant but as a Twins fan I’ll be bias. This is our year!”

This trade is broken down in to two parts. The Red Sox and Dodgers have agreed on a trade that involves OF Mookie Betts and LHP David Price moving out to Los Angeles, and OF Alex Verdugo, SS Jeter Downs, and C Connor Wong, and cash heading to Boston. As a note the Red Sox received two promising prospects with Downs being the #44 prospect and Wong who is promising but not yet ranked. This trade shows the Red Sox really want  young talent with Verdugo only being 23 years old and two prospects who are still in the process of becoming good baseball players. On the other side, the Dodgers received Gold Glove outfielder with Betts and a veteran pitcher with Price.

The other part of the trade consists of multiple players traded between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Minnesota Twins. The Dodgers will receive RHP Brusdar Graterol who is ranked 83rd in the minors, OF/1B Luke Raley, and a 2020 round B Draft pick which lies between rounds two and three.  The Twins will receive RHP Kenta Maeda, a lower level minor leaguer, and cash from the Dodgers, $10 million to be exact.

Something to take out of this trade is the Dodgers receiving more young players to help their farm system grow,  as well as looking into the future with their round B draft pick. The Twins on the other hand are receiving a veteran pitcher with Maeda and a lot money to help them pursue a pennant.  The RHP prospect Graterol was supposed to go to the Red Sox but with numerous injuries affecting him he is now settling with the Dodgers. This 3-way trade will benefit all three teams and all three teams are playoff contenders. We are all excited to see which one of these powerhouses finishes on top this year.
