Jessica Porten is September’s Athlete of the Month. She is a 5-foot-11 outside hitter for MCC’s successful volleyball team. Porten is dominant on the court, with 114 kills and 19 blocks, helping the team acquire a 18-2 record through the first week of October. According to Coach Shari Mayner, Porten is “a leader on the court, and the classroom,” maintaining a 4.00 GPA. Porten hopes to move somewhere warmer to study science.
